UW-Eau Claire is host to 28 of more than 47,000 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The quilt, started in 1987, is the world’s largest ongoing community art project, according to its caretaker, the NAMES Project Foundation.

UWEC has the AIDS Memorial Quilt on display December 15, 2011. The Aids quilt has been on display around the country since 1987 with only 1,920. The quilt has now grown to over 47,000 panels and can never be displayed all at once. The quilt is meant to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is displaying the largest community art project in the world on Dec. 14-16. People can view the quilt from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. each day in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
